Air Compression Therapy System—Easily Relieves Pregnancy Edema

December 23, 2022

What is gestational edema?

Most pregnant women will experience hands and feet swollen sooner or later during pregnancy. This phenomenon usually occurs on the soles of the feet, ankles, calves, and sometimes even the face with slight swelling. As the number of weeks of pregnancy increases, the edema phenomenon in pregnant women will become more and more obvious. If weather is hot, the swelling will be more heavier.

Mild swelling is normal, but if it is accompanied by high blood pressure and proteinuria, the mother-to-be is at risk of pregnancy-induced hypertension, and she must do a good check-up and fully cooperate with the doctor.

Causes of Edema during Pregnancy

01. Increased Blood Volume

Body edema during pregnancy is mainly related to the increase in blood volume, and when the blood volume increases, the interstitial fluid will also increase, and then there may be symptoms of lower extremity edema.

02. Reduced Plasma Osmotic Pressure

During pregnancy, the blood volume of pregnant mothers will increase, and the blood will be relatively diluted, resulting in a decrease in plasma albumin, and a decrease in plasma osmotic pressure, which allows the water in the blood to penetrate into the interstitial fluid causing local edema in turn.

03. Enlarged Uterus

As the fetus continues to grow and develop, the uterus will also become larger during pregnancy, and there may be blood circulation blocking.

04. Endocrine Changes

After pregnancy, the secretion of estrogen and progesterone in the body will increase, which will affect the body's metabolism. Slight body edema reaction may occur.

Edema during pregnancy is a common symptom in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, which is evident around the ankles. Usually, edema goes away on its own after an overnight rest without treatment. However, severe pregnancy edema can spread to the vulva and lower abdomen of the pregnant woman, and even the upper limbs and face can also be swollen, which often leads to the reduction of blood volume in the pregnant woman's body. It will casue the insufficient blood supply of the placenta, thus affecting the normal growth and development of the fetus . Therefore, severe edema during pregnancy requires timely medical treatment.

Air Compression Therapy System for Pregnancy Edema

The air compression therapy device mainly inflates and deflates the multi-cavity airbags in order to form a circulatory pressure on the limbs and tissues, and squeezes the limbs from the distal end to the proximal end of the limbs uniformly and orderly to promote blood circulation & flow of lymph and improve microcirculation effect. Through passive and uniform massage, along with acceleration of blood circulation, it helps to prevent the formation of thrombus and limb edema, directly or indirectly treat many diseases related to blood lymphatic circulation.

It can accelerate the absorption of metabolic wastes, inflammatory factors and pain-causing factors in the blood. It can prevent muscle atrophy & fibrosis, enhancing the oxygen content of limbs, and help to solve diseases caused by blood circulation disorders. The main function is to prevent DVT, reduce limb edema, and promote blood circulation.
